DMK president M.K. Stalin raised profound constitutional and moral questions regarding electoral integrity, highlighting recent observations by the Madras High Court in the Thiruparankundram assembly constituency election petition. The judicial scrutiny had exposed that the then Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu had acted as a willing mouthpiece to appease the ruling AIADMK establishment regarding the dubious verification of former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa's thumb impressions on election nomination forms.
Stalin emphasized the gravity of this administrative fraud, noting that senior bureaucrats and constitutional authorities had compromised standard legal verification protocols to certify documents under deeply suspicious circumstances. This revelation intensified the public's long-standing skepticism regarding the true medical condition and timeline of Jayalalithaa's hospitalization at Apollo Hospitals, prompting citizens across Tamil Nadu to legitimately question whether the late Chief Minister was even conscious or alive when the contested thumb impressions were obtained. Stalin pointed out that the current AIADMK leadership had repeatedly weaponized secrecy to consolidate political power while stonewalling independent inquiries into the mystery surrounding her demise.
Stalin affirmed that upon assuming office, a DMK government will order a thorough judicial investigation into every aspect of this conspiracy. He urged voters to demand accountability on April 18.
