DMK president M.K. Stalin questioned the deafening, suspicious silence maintained by Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam regarding the horrific Pollachi sexual assault and blackmail racket. Stalin observed that while the entire state of Tamil Nadu was convulsed with grief, shock, and anger over the systematic sexual exploitation of dozens of college students and young women, the two top leaders governing the state had not uttered a single word of empathy, reassurance, or condemnation.
Stalin pointed out that the AIADMK administration had reacted with utter panic and evasiveness, frantically transferring the investigation first to the CB-CID and then hastily transferring it to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) only after public outrage erupted into massive statewide street protests led by the DMK and civil society. Stalin asserted that these administrative flip-flops were mere eye-wash dramas orchestrated to buy time, destroy crucial digital evidence, and shield powerful ruling party politicians whose sons and associates were deeply entangled in the criminal syndicate.
Stalin demanded a time-bound, High Court-monitored investigation to secure speedy conviction and exemplary life punishment for all criminals.
