DMK president M.K. Stalin addressed a well-attended DMK Panchayat Sabha meeting at Korattur village in Poonamallee assembly constituency on the peri-urban outskirts of Chennai. Interacting directly with local residents, small business owners, and rural women, Stalin heard detailed grievances regarding severe civic deficiencies, worsening drinking water scarcity, and the failure of state agencies to maintain suburban infrastructure.

Residents highlighted that despite being located adjacent to expanding industrial and residential corridors, Korattur suffered from poorly maintained drainage networks, non-functional public streetlights, and contaminated community water sources. Women raised serious concerns about the proliferation of state-run liquor vending shops near residential neighborhoods and school zones, which disrupted community peace. Stalin noted that the state government's refusal to conduct local body elections had eliminated institutional mechanisms for citizens to seek civic redress and participate in local governance.

Stalin assured the people of Korattur that a future DMK government will systematically upgrade peri-urban infrastructure, guarantee dependable civic amenities, shut down disruptive liquor outlets, and restore local self-governance. He urged the public to vote decisively for the democratic front in the upcoming elections to secure lasting progress.
