DMK president M.K. Stalin addressed a massive and enthusiastic DMK Panchayat Sabha gathering at Agaramcheri village panchayat in Ambur assembly constituency. Speaking directly with agrarian workers, leather industry employees, and women self-help group members, Stalin gathered firsthand accounts of environmental degradation, drinking water contamination, and economic hardship affecting families in the Palar river basin.
Local farmers explained that hazardous industrial effluent discharges had severely polluted the Palar river aquifer, turning agricultural wells saline and rendering farmland uncultivable. Leather factory workers described widespread job losses and wage stagnation caused by the uncoordinated implementation of the Goods and Services Tax by the central dispensation. In addition, villagers highlighted broken village roads, inadequate medical staff at the nearby primary health center, and non-existent local body funding due to deferred municipal elections. Stalin stated that these widespread grassroots grievances proved that the ruling AIADMK government had completely abandoned rural development, environmental oversight, and public health welfare.
Stalin assured the people of Agaramcheri that a future DMK administration will enforce strict industrial pollution controls, clean up riverbed aquifers, and guarantee accountable civic governance across the constituency.
