Unveiling bronze statues of Dravidian stalwarts Perarignar Anna and Muthamizharignar Kalaignar Karunanidhi on Valentine's Day, DMK president M.K. Stalin characterized their historic leader-follower bond as an exemplary "ideological love" rooted in selfless service, social justice, and Tamil linguistic dignity. Stalin remarked that Kalaignar's unshakeable devotion to Anna was founded on shared revolutionary ideals rather than power politics, creating an enduring movement that uplifted millions of marginalized Tamils.
Turning his focus to national politics, Stalin launched a sharp offensive against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's repeated rhetoric claiming an unblemished, corruption-free administration. Stalin asked why, if the BJP regime was genuinely committed to probity and transparency, it had deliberately failed to constitute and operationalize the independent Lokpal anti-corruption ombudsman despite being in office for five complete years. He pointed out that the central government had systematically bypassed parliamentary oversight, diluted key integrity statutes, and stonewalled Supreme Court directives on Lokpal appointments to prevent independent scrutiny of massive defense deals like the Rafale contract.
Stalin affirmed that only an accountable progressive democratic coalition can restore constitutional institutions and honest governance to India and its people.
