DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the unconstitutional conduct of Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi, stating that her brazen interference in routine administrative files and constant confrontation with Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy's elected government was completely antithetical to constitutional democracy. Stalin expressed solidarity with the Chief Minister and cabinet ministers who were staging a peaceful dharna outside the Raj Nivas against Bedi's unilateral obstruction of public welfare schemes, free rice distribution, and municipal development works.

Stalin observed that the Bharatiya Janata Party government at the Centre had reduced the dignified constitutional office of governors and lieutenant governors to partisan functionaries acting like BJP general secretaries. Instead of upholding federal conventions, Raj Bhavans across opposition-ruled states and union territories were systematically weaponized to paralyze democratically elected legislatures. Stalin recalled Perarignar Anna's famous declaration asking whether a goat required a beard or a state required a governor, stating that Kiran Bedi's dictatorial antics in Puducherry proved once again that the anachronistic post of governor was a dangerous tool for subverting people's democratic mandates.

Stalin demanded that the Centre recall Kiran Bedi immediately and respect the constitutional authority of elected representatives.
