DMK president M.K. Stalin registered vehement condemnation against the Uttar Pradesh police and the Yogi Adityanath administration for unlawfully stopping and restraining Samajwadi Party president and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav at Lucknow airport. Yadav was en route to Prayagraj to attend the annual student union swearing-in ceremony at Allahabad University when police barricaded his boarding gates and prevented him from boarding a scheduled passenger flight.

Stalin characterized the high-handed police action as a direct, unconstitutional assault on fundamental democratic rights guaranteed under Articles 19 and 21 of the Indian Constitution, including freedom of movement, association, and peaceful assembly. He asserted that the incident exposed how deeply insecure and terrified the BJP government was in the face of united opposition alliances and student mobilization. By treating a former chief minister and leader of a major national party like a common criminal, the BJP displayed blatant disregard for parliamentary conventions and democratic norms. Stalin warned that Indian democracy was facing an existential crisis due to creeping authoritarianism and police-state tactics deployed by Narendra Modi and Yogi Adityanath.

Stalin declared that progressive and regional democratic parties across India will stand united to defeat BJP's authoritarian hegemony.
