The people of Tamil Nadu will respond in a fitting manner.
I call upon the #ElectionCommissionOfIndia to hold these elections immediately. https://t.co/prTaKPNPry

DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the unholy nexus between the ruling AIADMK and the Bharatiya Janata Party for deliberately stalling bye-elections to twenty-one vacant assembly constituencies across Tamil Nadu. Stalin characterized the continuous delay as anti-democratic, unconstitutional, and illegal, emphasizing that denying parliamentary representation to millions of citizens violated basic constitutional guarantees. He called upon the Election Commission of India (ECI) to uphold its constitutional independence and notify the bye-elections concurrently with the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
Stalin pointed out that eighteen assembly seats fell vacant following the disqualification of rebel AIADMK MLAs, while three other seats fell vacant due to the deaths of legislators, including Muthamizharignar Kalaignar in Tiruvarur. He argued that the Edappadi Palaniswami minority government, terrified of losing its razor-thin legislative majority, had colluded with the BJP leadership to cite frivolous legal and administrative pretexts to postpone polls. Stalin warned that suppressing the will of the electorate was an assault on representative democracy.
Stalin affirmed that the people of Tamil Nadu will deliver a resounding democratic defeat to the illegitimate ruling dispensation whenever elections are conducted.
