DMK president M.K. Stalin participated with immense pride in the "Arundhathiyar Political Resurgence Conference" held in Salem, organized by Dalit rights organizations. Addressing a mammoth gathering of Arundhathiyar community members, Stalin recalled that it was the DMK government led by Muthamizharignar Kalaignar in 2009 that scripted history by passing the historic legislation granting three percent internal reservation for Arundhathiyars within the eighteen percent Scheduled Castes quota. Stalin expressed profound satisfaction that as Local Administration and Rural Development Minister in Kalaignar's cabinet, he had actively guided the preparation and legislative passage of that transformative bill.
Stalin detailed how that single affirmative action policy had permanently changed lives, enabling thousands of Arundhathiyar youths to become doctors, engineers, university professors, judges, and government officers over the preceding decade. However, he expressed sorrow that under the subsequent AIADMK regime, the implementation of the reservation quota had been diluted, backlog vacancies were left unfilled, and basic civic dignity for sanitation workers was ignored.
Stalin pledged that the incoming DMK government will strictly implement the internal reservation, clear all employment backlogs, provide quality housing, and launch dedicated educational scholarships.
