DMK president M.K. Stalin addressed a well-attended "DMK Panchayat Sabha" gathering and assembly polling booth committee meeting in Paramakudi in Ramanathapuram district. Recalling the historic interventions of the previous DMK government under Muthamizharignar Kalaignar, Stalin highlighted the landmark 616-crore rupee Ramanathapuram Combined Drinking Water Supply Scheme, which was conceptualized, funded, and implemented by the DMK regime in 2009 to permanently solve the chronic drinking water scarcity of this parched coastal district by piping Cauvery river water from Muthur.
Stalin expressed deep grief that after eight years of uninterrupted AIADMK misrule, this life-saving drinking water project had fallen into absolute disrepair and administrative neglect. Pumping stations were poorly maintained, feeder pipes suffered chronic leakages, and booster motors remained defunct, leaving thousands of rural households in Paramakudi and surrounding villages without potable water for weeks. Desperate villagers were compelled to buy private tanker water at exorbitant prices. Stalin condemned the AIADMK ministers for siphoning off maintenance funds while letting iconic Dravidian welfare infrastructure collapse.
Stalin affirmed that the DMK will immediately restore and modernize the Ramanathapuram Combined Water Supply Scheme upon regaining power.
