Delivering a keynote address at the "DMK Panchayat Sabha" meeting in Keeladi panchayat in Sivagangai district, DMK president M.K. Stalin paid glowing tributes to the land that provided scientific evidence of an advanced, secular, urban civilization that flourished along the Vaigai banks thousands of years ago. Stalin remarked that while the soil of Keeladi revealed an egalitarian, literate society of ancient Tamils, modern Keeladi residents were subjected to appalling basic civic neglect by the inept AIADMK administration.

Interacting with local agriculturists, rural artisans, and self-help group women, Stalin listened to pressing community grievances. Villagers detailed erratic drinking water supply, decaying village road networks connecting Keeladi to Madurai, inadequate street lighting, and absence of modern veterinary facilities for dairy cattle. Farmers cultivating paddy, sugarcane, and bananas voiced distress over dry irrigation channels and exorbitant fertilizer prices. Stalin noted that while thousands of tourists and historians visited Keeladi to witness archaeological trenches, the state government had failed to establish basic visitor amenities, proper signage, public restrooms, or paved approach roads.

Stalin promised that a DMK government will transform Keeladi into a premier international heritage destination with world-class rural infrastructure.
