DMK president M.K. Stalin addressed a combined meeting of the "DMK Panchayat Sabha" and assembly polling booth agents at Chatrapatti in the Sathur assembly constituency of Virudhunagar district. Lampooning Prime Minister Narendra Modi's boastful claim that the Interim Union Budget 2019 was "just a trailer" before the main picture, Stalin asked the public why it took four and a half long years of non-performance just to release a hollow promotional teaser before general elections.

Stalin pointed out that if producing a promotional trailer consumed an entire five-year parliamentary term, citizens would have to wait indefinitely for actual welfare delivery, job creation, and price stability. He detailed how the Modi government had promised two crore new jobs annually, fifteen lakh rupees deposited into every citizen's bank account, and doubling of farmers' incomes, but had delivered only catastrophic demonetization, predatory GST slabs, and corporate debt waivers. Stalin noted that the interim budget's meager announcements were eleventh-hour electoral gimmicks aimed at deceiving farmers and the middle class after years of systematic neglect.

Stalin declared that voters will decisively reject the trailer and dump the BJP-AIADMK alliance at the hustings.
