DMK president M.K. Stalin led a panchayat sabha meeting at Thanakkankulam village in the Thiruparankundram assembly constituency, engaging directly with residents to examine the deteriorating conditions of rural infrastructure and public services across Tamil Nadu. The meeting was part of the statewide grassroots campaign organized by the DMK to interact directly with rural citizens at the village council level.

Addressing the assembled villagers, Stalin observed that rural civic bodies had been deprived of democratic representation because local body elections were systematically withheld by the state administration. Consequently, village panchayats lacked essential sanitary facilities, reliable drinking water networks, adequate street lighting, and maintained link roads. He noted that rural distress was escalating because legitimate local administrative grievances were repeatedly ignored by the ruling government in Chennai.

Stalin assured the participants that the DMK panchayat sabha campaign was designed to gather ground-level feedback directly from the people and formulate practical policy solutions. He called upon rural communities to unite and bring an end to the administrative stagnation undermining village welfare, pledging that an accountable government would restore active local democracy and ensure rapid grassroots rural development.
