The President's Address to the joint sitting of Parliament is yet another example of how the Modi Govt is out of touch with reality. The speech contained more fiction than fact. It is unfortunate to see an important event like this being used to make partisan political points.
DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly criticized the President's Address delivered to the joint sitting of both Houses of Parliament, asserting that the speech demonstrated how completely detached the Union government was from the daily realities facing Indian citizens. Stalin remarked that the official address contained far more fiction than verifiable facts, glossing over widespread economic distress and institutional decay.
Stalin expressed deep regret that a solemn constitutional tradition such as the joint parliamentary address had been repurposed into a partisan political platform by the Narendra Modi administration. Instead of presenting an objective assessment of national challenges, agrarian crises, and youth unemployment, the government utilized the highest constitutional office to project self-serving political narratives ahead of the general elections. Stalin emphasized that such partisan utilization degraded the dignity and impartiality traditionally associated with presidential addresses to the legislature.
Stalin maintained that the address failed to reflect the mounting struggles of farmers, unorganized workers, and small traders burdened by economic shocks. He urged parliamentarians and democratic forces to challenge these misleading assertions and demand substantive governmental accountability during legislative deliberations across both houses of Parliament.
