DMK president M.K. Stalin called out Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the protracted four-and-a-half-year delay in initiating the promised All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) project in Madurai. Stalin observed that while the premier medical facility had been grandly announced years earlier, the Union government was only managing to lay the foundation stone on January 27, right on the eve of the parliamentary elections.
Stalin noted that during his tenure, the Prime Minister had lavished numerous spectacular promises upon Tamil Nadu, but consistently failed to deliver on virtually every substantive developmental commitment. From establishing premier educational institutions to providing flood disaster relief and resolving inter-state water disputes, central pledges had largely remained on paper. Stalin challenged the Prime Minister to present an honest public account to the people of Tamil Nadu detailing precisely how many of his promised projects had actually been executed.
Stalin asserted that laying ceremonial foundation stones at the conclusion of a five-year term was a transparent political ploy to garner votes. He emphasized that the citizens of Tamil Nadu recognized the hollow nature of these eleventh-hour inaugurations.
