DMK president M.K. Stalin delivered a commemorative address at the Veeravanakkam public meeting convened to honor the courageous martyrs of the historic anti-Hindi agitations in Tamil Nadu. Stalin recalled the supreme sacrifices made by students, youth, and ideological forebears during the 1965 language protests, emphasizing that their collective resolve permanently defended Tamil linguistic identity and protected regional rights from central hegemony.
Stalin observed that the fearless resistance staged by language martyrs sent a clear and unyielding signal to the central rulers who attempted to impose Hindi upon non-Hindi speaking nationalities. He underscored that the Dravidian movement had always stood on the frontlines of preserving Tamil language pride, mother-tongue education, and cultural self-determination against ongoing central attempts at cultural homogenization. He cautioned that covert and overt efforts to push Hindi and Sanskrit into public administration and educational systems were continuing under the current Union government.
Stalin called upon party cadres, students, and citizens across the state to renew their sacred pledge of defending Tamil language rights. He affirmed that the DMK would never permit the erosion of linguistic federalism or state autonomy.
