Editorial context

DMK president M.K. Stalin delivered a comprehensive critique of the Tamil Nadu Global Investors Meet 2019 organized by the ruling AIADMK government, characterizing the high-profile summit as a theatrical illusion designed to mislead the public rather than attract genuine industrial investments. Stalin highlighted that the state administration had utterly failed to implement or track the vast majority of Memoranda of Understanding signed during the earlier 2015 investment summit.

Stalin questioned the timing and strategic planning of the event, pointing out that scheduling the state investment meet concurrently with the World Economic Forum annual summit in Davos ensured that top-tier international investors and corporate leaders would not attend. Despite knowing that global business chiefs were engaged in Switzerland, the state government proceeded with expensive domestic publicity campaigns, presenting inflated investment pledges that bore little relationship to actual ground reality. Stalin termed the entire exercise a mirage engineered for political optics rather than genuine economic development.

Stalin asserted that Tamil Nadu's industrial growth had decelerated sharply due to systemic corruption, bureaucratic indecision, and infrastructure deficits under the AIADMK administration, calling for transparent industrial accountability.
