DMK president M.K. Stalin delivered a thunderous address before a sea of humanity exceeding a million people at the mega "United India Rally" held at the historic Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata. Sharing the national stage with over twenty prominent opposition party leaders, Chief Ministers, and former Prime Ministers, Stalin declared that the impending 2019 parliamentary election was nothing less than India's "Second Freedom Struggle" to emancipate the republic from the tyrannical grip of the fascist Bharatiya Janata Party.
Stalin proclaimed that the united strength of regional forces and democratic parties would decisively bring down the authoritarian Modi regime. He highlighted how the central government had systematically weaponized federal agencies like the CBI, ED, and Income Tax Department to subjugate political opponents, while bulldozing parliamentary autonomy, judicial independence, and state rights. Stalin underscored that true national unity did not mean religious or linguistic uniformity, but the cooperative coexistence of diverse cultural identities across Indian states. He affirmed that the grand coalition assembled in Kolkata represented the collective will of the Indian people to defend constitutional secularism, federalism, and social justice.
Stalin called upon every secular and democratic force to march together in unison to safeguard India's democratic foundations.
