DMK president and Leader of Opposition M.K. Stalin led a party delegation to Raj Bhavan to meet Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit, submitting a formal memorandum demanding urgent constitutional action against Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami over explosive disclosures in the Kodanad estate break-in and murder case. Stalin urged the Governor to exercise his constitutional powers to order an impartial investigation by an independent Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by an upright officer of the rank of Inspector General of Police (IGP).

In his memorandum, Stalin pointed out that serious criminal allegations had surfaced following investigative journalist Samuel Mathew's documentary, wherein prime suspects K.V. Sayan and Walayar Manoj alleged that the deadly heist at late Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa's Kodanad estate in April 2017 was commissioned to retrieve confidential documents and cash at the behest of Chief Minister Palaniswami. Stalin stressed that because the sitting Chief Minister controlled the state police and home department, any probe conducted by the local Nilgiris police was inherently tainted and subjected to political manipulation. He demanded that Palaniswami step down or be removed to ensure that key witnesses and evidence were not compromised.

Stalin urged the Governor to uphold constitutional probity and democratic accountability.
