DMK president M.K. Stalin visited Illalur village panchayat in Kancheepuram district to preside over a massive grassroots gathering as part of the party's statewide Panchayat Sabha outreach initiative. Addressing village elders, farmers, women, and youth gathered under the village canopy, Stalin listened directly to urgent local grievances regarding acute drinking water shortages, dilapidated rural roads, broken street lighting, and erratic basic public services. He explained how ordinary villagers bore the direct brunt of unaddressed agrarian hardships and administrative stagnation caused by indifferent authorities.
Stalin sharply criticized the dual failures of the central BJP regime and the state AIADMK administration for turning a blind eye to genuine rural distress. He noted that instead of resolving systemic civic issues or releasing adequate local body funds, the authorities had systematically stalled village governance by refusing to conduct mandatory civic elections for years. Stalin reminded residents that real democratic power rests not in distant secretariats, but in the hands of village assemblies that hold decision-makers directly accountable.
Stalin reaffirmed the DMK's steadfast commitment to revitalizing grassroots democracy, pledging comprehensive administrative revival across Tamil Nadu's rural heartland once public mandate restores responsible governance.
