DMK president M.K. Stalin expressed profound outrage and horror over shocking incidents in Sattur and Kilpauk government hospitals, where two pregnant women were transfused with HIV-infected blood due to gross medical negligence and lax screening protocols. Stalin stated that these catastrophic failures represented the darkest stain on Tamil Nadu's public healthcare history, providing incontrovertible proof that state health administration had completely collapsed under the AIADMK regime.
Stalin noted that government hospitals, which serve as the primary lifeline for poor and working-class families seeking medical care, had been reduced to perilous death traps because of corrupt recruitment, obsolete testing equipment, and administrative apathy. He remarked that it was an unforgivable crime that pregnant mothers who trusted the state health apparatus were subjected to incurable life-altering infections. Stalin demanded the immediate dismissal of Health Minister C. Vijayabaskar, asserting that ministerial accountability was essential when such horrific lapses occurred. In addition, he demanded the immediate transfer of the Health Secretary and an independent, transparent judicial inquiry into blood bank operations statewide.
Stalin affirmed that the state must provide lifetime medical care, dignified compensation, and government employment to the victims.
