DMK president M.K. Stalin personally visited Perundurai in Erode district to express unyielding solidarity with hundreds of farmers and rural families who were staging an indefinite demonstration opposing the forced erection of high-voltage electric power transmission towers across their cultivable agricultural lands. Stalin interacted directly with affected cultivators, who detailed the destruction of fertile topsoil, uprooting of coconut and fruit trees, and steep decline in property valuation caused by overhead power lines.
Stalin observed that while industrial power transmission is necessary for state infrastructure, executing such mega projects through coercive police force without consulting agrarian landholders or exploring alternative underground cabling was autocratic and unacceptable. He condemned the AIADMK state government for its callous indifference towards agrarian livelihoods, pointing out that ministers were entirely dismissive of farmer anxieties across western Tamil Nadu. Stalin gave a firm and solemn assurance that even if the state administration ignored their pleas, the DMK would vigorously raise this burning issue inside the Legislative Assembly to compel official accountability.
Stalin affirmed that the DMK will persistently defend farmers' rights against unilateral government land encroachments across Tamil Nadu.
