Editorial context

DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the AIADMK administration for inflicting grave injustice upon the farming community by unilaterally installing massive high-voltage power transmission towers across fertile agricultural lands spanning thirteen districts in Tamil Nadu without obtaining landholders' consent. Stalin pointed out that instead of nurturing and protecting farmers who feed society, the state government was acting as an oppressive force, using police intimidation to suppress peaceful agrarian protests.

Stalin explained that erecting colossal transmission towers through the middle of productive agricultural plots ruined topsoil fertility, divided small family farms, disrupted irrigation channels, and permanently stripped the land of its market value without fair compensation. He questioned why the state government obstinately refused to adopt underground cabling along highways, a standard modern practice successfully implemented across developed nations and several Indian states. Stalin demanded that all ongoing installation works be suspended immediately and urged Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami to personally invite protesting farmer representatives from the thirteen affected districts for constructive negotiations.

Stalin affirmed that the DMK will persistently stand with the farming community until their land rights and livelihoods are completely protected.
