DMK president M.K. Stalin issued a stern warning to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) regarding its ongoing probe into the multi-crore Gutkha bribery scam, asserting that the party will not hesitate to move the Supreme Court of India if any covert attempts are made to dilute charges or shield high-profile political and police culprits. Stalin pointed out that Health Minister C. Vijayabaskar and Director General of Police T.K. Rajendran were birds of a feather whose names featured prominently in seized diary records documenting monthly kickbacks from banned tobacco manufacturers.

Stalin expressed deep indignation that despite documentary evidence unearthed by central tax authorities and widespread public outrage, Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami stubbornly refused to drop the tainted minister or suspend the implicated police chief. He questioned how an impartial investigation could proceed when key accused individuals continued to occupy the highest executive and policing offices in Tamil Nadu, possessing full capability to intimidate witnesses and tamper with sensitive official files.

Stalin demanded their immediate removal from office, affirming that the DMK will relentlessly pursue judicial avenues until every conspirator in the Gutkha racket faces trial.
