DMK president M.K. Stalin issued a firm and unequivocal directive to party functionaries and grassroots cadres across Tamil Nadu, instructing them to completely desist from erecting celebratory political banners, cut-outs, and decorative hoardings along public pathways and highways. Welcoming the stern strictures passed by the Madras High Court regarding the menace of unauthorized publicity banners, Stalin noted that ensuring citizen safety and smooth traffic movement must take precedence over political fanfare.
Stalin recalled that he had repeatedly cautioned party cadres against placing roadside hoardings that obstructed pedestrians, motorists, and school children, expressing concern that isolated infractions continued to occur in some localities. He emphasized that refraining from hazardous banner displays was not merely an obligation under municipal law, but a fundamental civic duty aimed at serving public welfare and preventing tragic accidents. Stalin declared that genuine party pride lies in winning the goodwill and affection of the public through dedicated community service rather than competing in extravagant, unsightly billboard displays that cause inconvenience to ordinary citizens.
Stalin affirmed that the DMK will set an exemplary standard of civic discipline across the state.
