DMK president M.K. Stalin launched a sharp critique against the AIADMK administration regarding its mishandling of Cyclone Gaja relief operations across the devastated Cauvery delta and coastal districts. Drawing a poignant comparison, Stalin pointed out that just as Cauvery irrigation water chronically failed to reach the parched agricultural fields of tail-end delta farmers due to administrative inefficiency, state disaster relief materials and financial compensations announced on November 19 had completely failed to reach interior rural hamlets.
Stalin observed that weeks after the catastrophic cyclone destroyed millions of coconut palms, fishing boats, and rural dwellings on November 15, desperate villagers were still staging road blockades demanding drinking water, tarpaulins, and food supplies. He sharply criticized Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami for meekly shielding the central Bharatiya Janata Party government instead of aggressively demanding adequate national disaster relief funds. Stalin asserted that Tamil Nadu required a decisive, courageous leadership capable of confronting New Delhi to secure legitimate disaster allocations rather than a subservient administration that traded state welfare for political survival.
Stalin demanded immediate, comprehensive compensation for fallen trees, damaged crops, and destroyed homes across all cyclone-affected areas.
