Editorial context

DMK president M.K. Stalin represented the party at a crucial, high-level conclave of national opposition leaders convened in New Delhi, joining heads of various regional and secular political parties to chart a unified democratic response against central authoritarianism. Addressing the joint conference alongside prominent national stalwarts, Stalin affirmed that preserving India's constitutional democracy required the collective, resolute mobilization of all progressive and secular forces across the country.

During the extensive deliberations, the united opposition leadership adopted a comprehensive resolution committing to confront regressive political forces that were actively sabotaging democratic traditions, muzzling dissent, and compromising the statutory independence of constitutional bodies. The meeting highlighted that premier institutions, including the judiciary, the election commission, central investigative wings, and financial regulators, were suffering systematic executive subjugation. In addition, Stalin stressed the paramount necessity of forging an inclusive socio-economic framework that prioritizes agrarian revival, job creation for youth, and statutory social justice for marginalized and backward classes.

Stalin reaffirmed the DMK's steadfast commitment to spearhead national coordination to defeat the divisive Bharatiya Janata Party in the upcoming general elections and establish accountable governance.
