DMK president M.K. Stalin undertook an extensive, on-ground inspection tour of several remote rural villages across Thiruvarur district devastated by Cyclone Gaja, meeting heartbroken farming families, agricultural laborers, and daily wage earners. Stalin personally oversaw the distribution of essential relief materials, including food grains, clothing, emergency medical kits, solar lanterns, and temporary roofing tarpaulins to hundreds of destitute households whose dwellings had been shattered by the fierce storm.
During his interactions in interior villages, Stalin was met with profound grief and public indignation as residents tearfully shared that weeks after the calamity struck, not a single revenue official or administrative representative had visited their hamlets to inspect damages or record crop losses. Farmers lamented that fallen coconut groves, smashed electric poles, and devastated standing crops remained completely unrecorded, shutting them out of official government compensation. Stalin condemned the AIADMK administration for its shameful administrative paralysis and lack of basic human empathy, asking whether the state government would ever wake up from its slumber to discharge its core duties.
Stalin demanded immediate deployment of special enumeration teams to guarantee comprehensive compensation to every victim.
