DMK president M.K. Stalin extended his heartfelt, fraternal greetings to all differently-abled citizens on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, celebrated globally on December 3. Stalin emphasized that true societal development is measured not merely by economic indices, but by the extent to which society creates an accessible, compassionate, and inclusive environment that ensures equal opportunities, dignity, and self-reliance for differently-abled individuals across all walks of life.
Stalin called upon the ruling administration to abandon its callous, indifferent posture and approach the legitimate demonstrations and representations of differently-abled associations with genuine administrative empathy and humanity. He recalled that it was the visionary DMK government led by Kalaignar Karunanidhi that established a dedicated government department for the welfare of the differently-abled, institutionalized monthly maintenance allowances, and replaced stigmatizing terminology with the respectful Tamil term "Maattruthiranalligal." Stalin condemned the incumbent AIADMK regime for using police force against peaceful visually impaired protesters demanding employment quotas.
Stalin pledged that an incoming DMK government will enhance monthly welfare pensions, enforce mandatory employment reservations strictly, and construct fully barrier-free public infrastructure across Tamil Nadu.
