DMK president M.K. Stalin issued a passionate, stinging critique of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his shocking apathy and prolonged silence regarding the acute humanitarian catastrophe unfolding across the Cauvery delta in the wake of Cyclone Gaja. Stalin questioned whether the cries of millions of delta citizens—who had fed the entire nation through their agricultural toil for generations—could not penetrate the walls of the Prime Minister's residence in New Delhi.
Stalin pointed out that the catastrophic storm had decimated thirty years of accumulated savings, destroying lakhs of coconut groves, flattening paddy crops, wrecking fishing vessels, and reducing modest rural homes to debris. Entire families had been pushed onto the streets, begging for basic drinking water, food packets, and shelter. Despite such immense devastation, the Prime Minister refused even to post a single empathetic message or undertake an aerial survey, treating Tamil Nadu with stepmotherly neglect. Stalin urged both the central and state governments to shake off their criminal complacency, immediately release substantial disaster funds, and execute comprehensive rehabilitation.
Stalin reaffirmed that the DMK will persistently mobilize relief and fight until every affected delta family is rehabilitated.
