தலைவரை நியமிப்பதுடன், ஊழல் செய்ய ஏதுவான ‘ரகசிய விசாரணை’ விதியையும் ரத்து செய்ய வேண்டும்! https://t.co/8BJ2McUZOl

Editorial context

DMK president M.K. Stalin launched a sharp attack against the AIADMK administration for deliberately dragging its feet on establishing the state anti-corruption ombudsman, pointing out that even after 128 days had elapsed since enacting the Tamil Nadu Lokayukta Act, the government had failed to appoint a Chairperson and Members to the body. Stalin asked whether Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami was terrified that appointing an ombudsman would lead to immediate criminal inquiries into his own corruption scandals and those of his ministerial colleagues.

Stalin emphasized that the legislation passed by the AIADMK government was already rendered completely toothless, lacking independent investigative wings and stripped of statutory autonomy. To compound this flaw, the government inserted bizarre "secret inquiry" provisions that mandated punishing whistleblowers and citizens who filed genuine anti-corruption complaints if allegations were not proven, creating an atmosphere of intimidation. Stalin demanded the immediate, transparent appointment of an upright retired judge as Chairperson and the total abolition of restrictive secrecy clauses designed to bury administrative bribery.

Stalin declared that an incoming DMK government will repeal this compromised enactment and institute an autonomous, empowered anti-corruption commission.
