The arbitrary and unconstitutional manner in which the assembly was dissolved by the J&KGovernor is daylight murder of #democracy. It is a clear indication of the Centre's malafide agenda of running the State via the RajBhavan, instead of the will of voters. #JKAssemblyDissolved
DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the sudden and unconstitutional dissolution of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly by the Governor, describing the action as daylight murder of parliamentary democracy. Stalin stated that this abrupt executive decision exposed the Union government's bad-faith agenda to govern the sensitive northern state directly through the Raj Bhavan rather than respecting the constitutional will of elected representatives and regional voters.
Stalin pointed out that constitutional conventions require governors to explore all democratic options for government formation before dissolving an elected house. Disregarding majority claims made by regional political parties revealed the partisan misuse of gubernatorial authority at the behest of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party at the Centre. Such arbitrary actions directly erode federal norms, reduce constitutional offices to political instruments, and disenfranchise regional electorates.
Stalin emphasized that the DMK has consistently championed state autonomy and strongly opposed the authoritarian misuse of governors to bypass elected legislatures. He warned that undermining regional mandates poses severe dangers to national integrity and institutional stability. He called upon all secular and regional parties across India to unite against central overreach and defend constitutional federalism from continued executive subversion.
