DMK president M.K. Stalin conducted extensive ground inspections across several Cyclone Gaja-ravaged pockets of the Cauvery delta, observing that thousands of rural families remained trapped in severe distress seven days after the disaster. Stalin reported that while administrative recovery was marginally visible along major highways and town junctions, state relief machinery was conspicuously paralyzed across interior villages, leaving residents without food, clean water, or electricity.
Stalin emphasized that the prolonged breakdown of basic public services exacerbated the misery of delta farmers and rural laborers who suffered catastrophic losses to coconut plantations, standing paddy crops, and residential dwellings. Power distribution networks remained entirely dismantled, and uprooted trees blocked vital arterial paths, cutting off vulnerable settlements from external assistance. Stalin criticized the state administration for failing to deploy emergency restoration personnel and heavy clearing machinery to interior rural belts.
Calling upon political parties, voluntary organizations, and civil society to unite, Stalin stressed that rebuilding the shattered agrarian economy requires an immediate, compassionate, and sustained rehabilitation campaign. He assured residents that DMK relief teams will continue supplying essential provisions until normalcy is fully restored.
