DMK president M.K. Stalin flagged off a massive relief convoy comprising 100 trucks loaded with essential materials valued at four crore rupees to assist communities devastated by Cyclone Gaja across the Cauvery delta. Responding to Stalin's statewide appeal, party district units from non-affected regions, commercial donors, and civic volunteers mobilized extensive supplies including rice, groceries, drinking water, baby food, tarpaulins, clothes, and emergency medicines.
Stalin expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed generously to the humanitarian effort. He emphasized that the Cauvery delta has historically fed the entire state of Tamil Nadu through the tireless labor of its agrarian workforce. In this hour of unprecedented adversity, when catastrophic gales have flattened coconut groves, uprooted electricity poles, and demolished rural homes, standing firmly with delta residents represents a moral obligation for all citizens.
Stalin instructed party volunteer teams to ensure that the relief convoys reach interior rural hamlets that were bypassed by official distribution mechanisms. He affirmed that the DMK will sustain coordinated humanitarian support across all cyclone-affected districts until every impacted family rebuilds their livelihood. He urged state authorities to match this public solidarity with efficient administrative performance.
