It’s 72 hours since the cyclone devastation & he hasn’t visited the region! 50 people are dead & many homeless, this is not the time to be enjoying song & dance in your hometown! https://t.co/qp9iVb1WhU

DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly condemned Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami for failing to visit cyclone-devastated districts even seventy-two hours after Cyclone Gaja made landfall in coastal Tamil Nadu. Drawing a historic parallel with Emperor Nero who fiddled while Rome burned, Stalin described the chief minister as callous and disconnected from public suffering. He noted that while fifty citizens had lost their lives and hundreds of thousands were rendered homeless, the state's executive head chose to attend cultural festivities in his native district.
Stalin emphasized that during severe natural calamities, the primary duty of an elected leader is to lead from the front, inspect devastated zones, and direct emergency rescue operations. Instead of supervising relief machinery and comforting bereaved families in Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Nagapattinam, and Tiruvarur, the chief minister stayed away from the calamity zone. This indifference left the administrative apparatus disorganized and delayed basic humanitarian assistance to marooned villages.
Stalin stated that leadership requires empathy and proactive governance during catastrophic crises. He demanded that the chief minister immediately visit every impacted district to assess losses firsthand and oversee comprehensive relief distribution.
