DMK president M.K. Stalin announced that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam would contribute one crore rupees from party headquarters alongside one month's salary from all DMK members of the Legislative Assembly and Parliament to support rehabilitation efforts in cyclone-ravaged districts. Addressing party cadres and the public, Stalin emphasized that standing in firm solidarity with the affected populations across eight delta and coastal districts is a fundamental political and moral duty.
Stalin highlighted the catastrophic impact of Cyclone Gaja, which flattened millions of productive coconut palms, destroyed standing horticulture, and tore down essential civic infrastructure. He pointed out that rebuilding devastated rural livelihoods requires substantial financial mobilization and dedicated ground engagement. By pledging funds directly from party resources and legislative representatives, the DMK aimed to provide immediate financial liquidity for rehabilitation projects, community kitchens, and relief supplies.
Stalin appealed to party district functionaries and volunteers to intensify relief distribution across interior rural areas bypassed by official agencies. He stressed that collective social solidarity remains vital to resurrect the shattered agrarian economy of the Cauvery delta and assist vulnerable families in rebuilding their lives.
