DMK president M.K. Stalin highlighted the intense public fury prevailing across Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, and Pudukkottai districts over the total paralysis of state relief machinery after Cyclone Gaja. Stalin noted that during his field visits, distressed citizens vented severe indignation regarding the government's utter failure to restore drinking water, clear blocked highways, or provide basic emergency sustenance even days after the cyclone destroyed their homes.
Stalin observed that citizens felt deeply betrayed by an administration that abandoned them during their most vulnerable hours. He noted that the public would hold the ruling dispensation democratically accountable for its criminal negligence when the time arrives. However, Stalin emphasized that the immediate imperative for political and social organizations was to transcend political rhetoric and focus wholehearted efforts on alleviating human distress.
Stalin issued an urgent appeal to DMK functionaries and grassroots volunteers to redouble their humanitarian efforts across all impacted villages. He instructed cadres to distribute essential food supplies, coordinate medical camps, and assist vulnerable families in clearing debris, reaffirming that the party will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with delta residents throughout the recovery process.
