அப்பாவி மக்கள் முதல் விவசாயிகள், மீனவர்கள் வரை அனைவரின் வாழ்வாதாரமும் கடுமையாக பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

DMK president M.K. Stalin surveyed extensive devastation caused by Cyclone Gaja across the Cauvery delta districts, observing that the calamity had unleashed catastrophic destruction comparable to past disasters like cyclones Thane, Vardah, and Ockhi. Stalin expressed profound anguish over the confirmation of thirty-six deaths during the storm, offering heartfelt condolences to grieving families who lost their loved ones to collapsing structures and gale-force winds.
Stalin reported that the cyclonic fury had systematically devastated the livelihoods of ordinary citizens, smallholder farmers, and coastal fishermen. Millions of perennial coconut groves, mango plantations, and standing paddy fields were completely uprooted, wiping out the accumulated assets of farming communities. In coastal hamlets, hundreds of mechanized fishing boats and artisanal catamarans were smashed by ferocious tidal surges, stripping fisherfolk of their daily sustenance and economic security.
Stalin demanded that the Tamil Nadu government immediately sanction generous ex-gratia compensation for families of the deceased and announce comprehensive livelihood restoration packages for farmers and fishermen. He urged the administration to mobilize multi-departmental emergency teams to provide hot meals, restore clean water, and prevent waterborne disease outbreaks across all affected areas.
