Editorial context

DMK president M.K. Stalin expressed sharp indignation over the inclusion of a caste suffix alongside the name of rationalist reformer Thanthai Periyar E.V. Ramasamy in a Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission Group 2 recruitment examination question paper. Stalin condemned the act as an outrageous insult to the revered father of the Dravidian movement, who devoted his entire life to annihilating caste discrimination and renounced caste titles nearly a century ago.

Stalin questioned whether the question paper setters, moderators, and scrutiny officials possessed even elementary knowledge of Tamil Nadu's social reform history and Periyar's historic self-respect crusade launched from Erode. For an official state recruitment agency to re-impose a caste identity on the very crusader who inspired generations to discard feudal caste markers demonstrates profound negligence and regressive prejudice within the recruitment apparatus.

Stalin demanded that the Tamil Nadu government issue an unconditional public apology for this egregious blunder. He insisted that the authorities immediately identify and dismiss the examiners and officials responsible for vetting the question paper, urging rigorous reforms in TNPSC examination processes to prevent reactionary distortions of progressive historical legacies.

This is an initiative of unofficial DMK and Dravidian Ideology supporter, a fan of Thanthai Periyar, Perarignar Anna and Kalaignar — not affiliated with any official DMK party or persons.
