DMK president M.K. Stalin led a massive democratic demonstration in Perambalur as part of a statewide agitation observing the second anniversary of demonetization as a day of destruction. Addressing thousands of party cadres, agricultural workers, and local traders, Stalin issued a resolute call to defeat the authoritarian Bharatiya Janata Party government at the Centre and its subservient, corrupt AIADMK partner in Tamil Nadu through united mass mobilization.
Stalin condemned the 2016 currency ban as an unprecedented assault on the working class, noting that daily wage earners, rural women, and small business operators bore the brunt of reckless economic miscalculation. He pointed out that while small industries in tier-two and tier-three towns were forced into bankruptcy, the ruling dispensation systematically protected corporate conglomerates. The state AIADMK administration, rather than defending the interests of the people, remained complicit in central economic mismanagement to secure its own survival.
Stalin urged the electorate to channel public frustration into democratic resistance. He affirmed that the Perambalur rally signaled the start of a decisive campaign to restore transparent governance, economic fairness, and regional autonomy. He stressed that popular protests will continue until public economic grievances are addressed.
