Corrupt, autocratic and divisive forces are destroying the democratic fabric of our country.
It is the need of the hour for all non-BJP parties to come together on a common platform.
I congratulate @rahulgandhi and @ncbn for initiating steps towards this. They have my support.
DMK president M.K. Stalin warmly congratulated Indian National Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for taking pioneering steps toward forging a unified national front of non-BJP political parties. Stalin extended the DMK's unconditional support to this collective endeavor, emphasizing that uniting regional and national secular forces is the essential need of the hour to rescue India's parliamentary democracy from autocratic and divisive governance.
Stalin observed that constitutional institutions, independent judicial conventions, and federal principles were facing unprecedented erosion under the ruling central dispensation. Divisive sectarian politics and authoritarian central directives had created an atmosphere of social fragmentation and economic instability across diverse states. In such a critical juncture, political organizations committed to constitutional morality have an urgent duty to transcend narrow factional interests and construct a robust pan-Indian alternative.
Stalin affirmed that the DMK will act as a pivotal anchor in coordinating regional parties and mobilizing democratic public sentiment. He expressed firm confidence that the collaborative leadership of Gandhi and Naidu would consolidate opposition unity, safeguard federal autonomy, and deliver a decisive democratic mandate in the upcoming 2019 general elections.
