DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly criticized the ruling AIADMK government for criminal negligence in containing a severe dengue fever outbreak, expressing profound anguish over the preventable deaths of young children across Tamil Nadu. Stalin characterized the health department's paralysis as thoroughly shameful, pointing out that despite escalating infection rates and fatal casualties in government hospitals, the state administration had failed to initiate aggressive public health interventions.
Stalin demanded that the Tamil Nadu government immediately declare a state medical emergency to mobilize healthcare infrastructure and coordinate emergency fever management across every district. He pointed out that government hospitals were reeling under severe shortages of essential diagnostic kits, intravenous fluids, blood platelets, and specialized pediatric staff. Rural primary health centers remained unequipped to handle surging caseloads, forcing economically vulnerable families to seek expensive treatment in private hospitals.
Stalin urged the administration to launch comprehensive mosquito eradication drives, organize continuous fever surveillance camps, and guarantee that not a single further death occurs from treatable seasonal fevers. He stressed that protecting children's lives must override bureaucratic complacency and public relations denials. He affirmed that public health infrastructure must be safeguarded with urgent administrative priority.
