DMK president M.K. Stalin appeared before a special court in Chennai to face criminal defamation charges filed against him by the ruling AIADMK administration. Speaking after the proceedings, Stalin highlighted the irony of a government entangled in numerous corruption inquiries and CBI investigations attempting to intimidate political opponents through criminal defamation complaints. He noted that official state machinery was routinely misused to suppress legitimate democratic criticism and public questioning.
Recalling the history of the Dravidian movement, Stalin declared that DMK leaders and cadre had endured severe political persecution under draconian laws, including MISA, TADA, and POTA. Having faced prolonged detentions during national emergencies and mass political struggles, he affirmed that frivolous defamation suits would never silence his party's voice. He emphasized that every party member was fully prepared to defend political speech and expose administrative wrongdoing inside courtrooms.
Stalin reiterated his resolve to continue exposing administrative malpractice, illegal tender distributions, and public fund diversions across government departments. He affirmed that democratic opposition cannot be subdued through executive harassment, maintaining that truth and the rule of law would ultimately prevail in judicial proceedings.
