DMK president M.K. Stalin sharply criticized the Tamil Nadu government following reports of severe structural cracks appearing on the newly inaugurated Pambar high-level bridge in Avudaiyarkoil, Pudukkottai district. Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami had formally opened the bridge just four months prior to the damage. Stalin stated that rapid structural failure on a recently commissioned public transport project provided undeniable proof of rampant administrative corruption, substandard engineering, and compromised construction standards.
Stalin described the ruling AIADMK administration as an enterprise driven solely by commissions, collections, and corruption, where contractor kickbacks superseded public safety considerations. He pointed out that awarding lucrative infrastructure contracts to political favorites without strict quality oversight endangered thousands of daily commuters and local transport operators who rely on the bridge to cross the Pambar river.
Demanding an immediate independent structural audit by qualified civil engineering experts, Stalin urged punitive action against complicit contractors and supervising highways officials. He declared that public tolerance for hazardous infrastructure had reached its limit, predicting that the political foundation of the current corrupt regime would crumble just like its flawed engineering projects across Tamil Nadu.
