Editorial context

DMK president M.K. Stalin visited the residence of young Rizwan, a schoolboy who tragically succumbed to dengue fever in Kolathur, offering personal condolences and emotional support to the grieving parents. Expressing deep sorrow over the child's untimely demise, Stalin asserted that inadequate civic sanitation, delayed vector control, and public healthcare failures were directly responsible for preventable fever deaths occurring throughout Chennai and neighboring districts.

Prior to visiting the bereaved family, Stalin reviewed several civic and community welfare works underway across the Kolathur constituency. He observed that municipal bodies had neglected routine mosquito eradication drives, drainage maintenance, and anti-larval spraying, allowing vector populations to multiply unchecked. He noted that working-class neighborhoods suffered disproportionately due to accumulated garbage, overflowing drains, and insufficient medical supplies in urban primary health centers.

Stalin strongly criticized the AIADMK administration for focusing on political self-preservation and corrupt tender distributions while ordinary families lost their children to infectious fevers. He demanded that the state health department declare an emergency, launch intensive fogging campaigns, and equip all government hospitals with round-the-clock testing facilities and dedicated specialized fever treatment wards for vulnerable citizens.
