DMK president M.K. Stalin declared that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam would extend full organizational solidarity and active support to the massive rally organized by Parambikulam Aliyar Project irrigation farmers. The agricultural demonstrators were demanding the urgent execution of the long-pending Anamalaiyaru and Nallaru irrigation schemes, as well as an immediate halt to the unauthorized discharge of Neerar surplus water into Kerala. Stalin stated that these water management initiatives were vital for securing regional agrarian prosperity.
Stalin noted that thousands of farmers across Coimbatore, Tiruppur, and adjacent agricultural belts depended entirely on the PAP network for their seasonal cultivation and drinking water security. The failure to complete the Anamalaiyaru and Nallaru link canals deprived Tamil Nadu of its legitimate water quota under interstate river basin agreements. Meanwhile, valuable water resources flowed away to neighboring regions due to bureaucratic lethargy and state neglect.
Stalin criticized the sluggish AIADMK administration for remaining asleep while farming communities took to the streets to defend their rightful water entitlements. He demanded that the state government awaken to farmers' legitimate grievances, initiate urgent bilateral talks with Kerala, and fast-track both irrigation projects immediately.
