DMK president M.K. Stalin condemned AIADMK organizational secretary C. Ponnaiyan's statement that the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption would file an appeal challenging the Madras High Court order that directed a CBI investigation against Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami. Stalin termed this declaration a shameful spectacle that completely destroyed the credibility of the state vigilance body, demonstrating that the DVAC operated under direct political command of the ruling party.

The Madras High Court had ordered an independent preliminary inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation after finding grave irregularities in highway contract awards amounting to several thousand crores. The court noted that the DVAC had acted as a shield for the Chief Minister rather than conducting an impartial probe. Stalin observed that a political party functionary announcing official litigation decisions on behalf of an investigative agency exposed total administrative degradation.

Stalin stressed that an anti-corruption agency funded by taxpayers should defend public interest rather than protecting a corrupt political master from federal investigation. He reiterated that any attempt to stall the CBI probe would be resisted legally and politically, asserting that public justice would ultimately prevail against state-sponsored subversion.
