DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the Edappadi K. Palaniswami administration for routinely ordering mass police detentions whenever transport trade union federations, government employees, and teacher associations organized demonstrations demanding their legitimate workplace entitlements. Stalin characterized the systematic criminalization of trade union rights as an intolerable act of administrative high-handedness that dismantled decades of hard-won labor protections in Tamil Nadu.
Stalin noted that public sector employees and educators had repeatedly submitted formal petitions urging the implementation of agreed-upon wage revisions, the clearance of accumulated retirement benefits, and the scrapping of the contributory pension scheme. Instead of engaging in constructive discussions or honoring past administrative commitments, the state government deployed police forces to intimidate union office-bearers, conduct midnight arrests, and disrupt peaceful protest gatherings across major district headquarters.
Stalin demanded that the state leadership immediately stop treating dedicated public servants and schoolteachers as criminals. He urged the Chief Minister to release all detained union leaders unconditionally, withdraw disciplinary penal notices, and invite joint action committee representatives for open negotiations to resolve all pending welfare demands amicably before essential public services were disrupted.
