Editorial context

DMK president M.K. Stalin expressed serious concern over the Union BJP government's step-motherly treatment toward regional languages in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, asserting that discriminatory testing policies were systematically shattering the medical aspirations of mother-tongue students. Stalin stated that imposing a centralized entrance exam framed around unfamiliar national curricula placed vernacular-medium pupils from rural, backward, and marginalized backgrounds at an insurmountable structural disadvantage.

Stalin pointed out that the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly had unanimously adopted two historic statutory bills seeking exemption for the state from the ambit of NEET, reflecting the democratic consensus of all elected representatives. However, the Union government deliberately stalled the legislation in New Delhi, withholding presidential assent through bureaucratic obstruction while the state AIADMK regime remained subservient, failing to exert meaningful constitutional pressure on the central leadership.

Stalin demanded that the state government immediately assert its federal rights and secure prompt approval from the President of India for the pending exemption bills. He affirmed that the DMK would continue its unyielding struggle to protect medical educational opportunities for state board students, defending linguistic equality and federal education rights against central homogenization.
