DMK president M.K. Stalin highlighted alarming official data revealing a steady decline in the proportion of students appearing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test in regional languages, describing the trend as a profound existential threat to linguistic rights and educational diversity. Stalin noted that while candidates writing the medical entrance exam in Hindi and English rose from 90.75 percent in 2017 to 91.02 percent in 2018, the percentage taking the test in Tamil and other Indian languages plummeted from 9.25 percent to 8.98 percent.

Stalin pointed out that these statistics conclusively exposed the exclusionary design of centralized entrance examinations, which inherently favor urban, affluent students studying in English-medium central boards while marginalizing students educated in their mother tongue. Linguistic hurdles, flawed Tamil question translations, and absence of affordable regional coaching facilities systematically squeezed vernacular students out of professional medical education across the country.

Stalin asserted that the sharp drop in regional language test-takers validated the DMK's consistent warning that uniform national tests undermine linguistic equality and federalism. He demanded the immediate abolition of NEET, urging all non-Hindi states to unite against central policies that privilege dominant languages at the expense of regional linguistic rights.
